Gemma is a contemporary artist and illustrator originally North Wales now more recently from Chester. She works across a diverse range of mixed media, often acrylic pen and paint to create bold and expressive artworks. A graduate of Wrexham University (NEWI) with a BA (Hons) in Illustration (2003), Gemma’s foundation in illustration continues to influence her evolving visual language.
With a deep passion for colour, composition, and form, Gemma’s work spans from striking monochromatic sketches to vibrant acrylic paintings. Her contemporary acrylic pieces explore layered textures and rich colour palettes, offering a modern take on landscape, architectural, and abstract themes. Her practice is unified by a constant exploration of line, shape, and composition.
Gemma’s niche lies in her ability to capture the essence of a place—whether through an intricate drawing or an expressive painting. She draws inspiration from her surroundings in North Wales and beyond, translating everyday scenes into artwork that feels personal and evocative.
